Volumina Pro 1.1

Volume Estimator for Rotationally Symmetrical Containers + their Mean Square Errors. Volumina Pro estimates volumes of rotationally symmetrical containers and their mean square errors using their digitized cross-sections obtained from scanned photos, plots or drawings. Data input, processing and data output are organised by a project manager co-operating with linked interactive and interdependent database and graphics components. The four tabs of the main interface highlight the procedural steps: input or digitize surface points, input parameter, process, and output volumes and their mean square errors. The user can select from three different approximating functions: linear, quadratic and cubic. Numerous example projects are included to demonstrate the various characteristics of this program. Data input is realised by working interactively in a graphics display and database grids that keep each other automatically updated when data is changed. Thus, digitizing of surface points and, if necessary, data correction is done by a few mouse clicks and key presses. Parameter input includes values for digitizer precision, scale and wall thickness along with estimates for their accuracy. Data output can be viewed by using either ASCII files or database grids. These grids allow one to examine all results for different input sets at the same time. Next to them the scanned image with the digitized surface points is displayed together with the computed symmetry axis and geometrical center of the container.
