Portofino World Site is the official tourist site for Portofino in Italy, one of the eight wonders of the world. In the 60’s and 70’s, stars like Ava Gardner, Frank Sinatra, Brigitte Bardot and Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Clark Gable, Catherine Deneuve, Liza Minelli and Rex Harrison visited Portofino, for passionate and romantic encounters. The newspapers of the time were filled with society life and were in a race to tell the world these fascinating stories of international celebrities and their Dolce Vita in Portofino, and also Via Veneto and Piazza di Spagna in Rome. Today, it is still the place to encounter the international jet-set. Hardly 2km in total area, Porofino is nicknamed the most beautiful Piazzetta (square) in the world. In effect, this open air “room” is unique and full of magic. In a few steps its possible to see many of the world famous shop-fronts, walk beside the luxury yachts in the marina, see the local fisherman mending and rearranging their nets, in the unforgettable bay, full of pastel coloured houses. Famous International fashion houses have a home in Portofino. All are situated on the main street Via Roma, near the parking area and between the two quays. Molo Umberto I quay, to the right, and Marconi quay, to the left. There are other shops situated in the lanes and alleyways, still originally maintained in the perfect Ligurian style, and you will notice particular details when you walk around. There are beatiful local boutiques, specialising in hand made goods, such as cashmere, lingerie, bikini’s, sandals.
