Her music is a mixture of mainstream pop, disco and 1980s electronic influences. Ellis-Bextor began her career in 1997, with an indie band called theaudience. She sang the lead vocal in the band. A year on, Ellis Bextor was again making waves with the pop single Take Me Home. Thanks to that effort, she beat the likes of Five to the number one spot on the U.K. singles chart. In their ongoing search for controversy, the British press even touted her as the main competitor to enormously popular Victoria Beckham, previously known as Posh Spice. That same year, Ellis Bextor served up another chart topper in the ultra-cool disco tune Murder on the Dancefloor.

Bush is co-starring as Grace Andrews, who is terrorized by a killer played by Sean Bean, in the remake of The Hitcher (2007). Outside of her acting profession, Bush has been working as an Assignment Editor for Annenberg TV News in her spare time. Her other talents include horseback riding, boxing, and photography.
